She'd done her best. She'd dressed in her most beautiful gown. She'd spent hours on her hair and painted her face expertly until she couldn't see a glimmer of the child she imagined her husband saw when he looked at her. Beautiful jewelry wound around her neck and dangling from her ears and still it had made absolutely no difference.
He'd pushed her away, denying her even the smallest, simplest kiss. She'd stumbled into the dinner table, upsetting half the dishes onto the fresh linen tablecloth, and he'd just stared at her, as if unable to believe her audacity or his strength. Either way it was obvious now. That awful thing she'd only assumed before now. Her husband didn't love her. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
